What is adhesive capsulitis?
What causes adhesive capsulitis?
How can physical therapy help with adhesive capsulitis?
Treatment for adhesive capsulitis typically involves a combination of therapies, including physical therapy, pain management, and in some cases, surgery. Physical therapy may involve stretching and strengthening exercises to help improve range of motion and reduce pain. Pain management may include over-the-counter or prescription medications, as well as heat or cold therapy. In some cases, corticosteroid injections may be recommended to help reduce inflammation and pain.
Surgery is typically considered a last resort and is only recommended in severe cases that do not respond to other treatments. Surgery for adhesive capsulitis may involve manipulation under anesthesia, in which the shoulder is moved through a range of motion while the individual is under sedation, or arthroscopic surgery, in which a small camera is inserted into the shoulder joint to guide the surgical procedure.
